Abstracted Solar Symbols like the Sonnenrad

Sunwheel symbols like the “Black Sun” or Sonnenrad and the Swastika as unifying central solar symbols should be abandoned. To be clear, I am obviously not calling for their prohibition. Likewise, my objection is not that these are “ruined brands” tarred by poor historical associations. Though, obviously, in at least the short term, this makes them incredibly inexpedient. I object to these symbols because they are, in fact, poor symbols.

Firstly, they are abstracted forms. Instead, we should be moving toward representational forms, “playing to our strength.” We should be showing the beauty of the Aryan form and especially the Aryan face, whether on banners, logos or elsewhere. Likewise we should be demonstrating the gifts of our artists, which, at the highest levels, are unique.

From the ancient world we receive some later representations of Apollo that strike us as fay or soft.  The sculptor Arno Breker may go too far with some of his scowling, discontented faces but with his statue of Berufung he comes close.  Maybe, though, there should be a greater sense of assurance there.

Naturally photorealism is not required in every context, yet the face should be rendered, even if by simple lines. This, after all, is the hated “exclusive” idolatry that was for so many thousands of years so demoralizing to our adversaries.

This demoralization, for example, is why they promoted and delighted in the abstract Art of the 20th century. Such Art must be understood, at its root and in its every expression, as nothing more than an entirely Religious attack on Aryan “idolatry.” To the extent any abstracted solar symbol might be related to the Norse or “runes” we will come to understand this, by itself, problematic.

Indeed we should be moving toward the classical and thus, also, “a sense of class.” After all, only success attracts. We can and should appeal to the common man but we should simultaneously uplift him, dissuading him from his cruder instincts. The figure of Mars or the soldier, farmer and laborer, as common yet ennobled, is useful here as a bridge.

If one insists on an abstract symbol, as a kind of easily replicable shorthand or as a simple budgetary consideration, the noontime golden Sun, set against blue, is an option I would recommend. Our discussion of “Aryan color theory” will further explicate this. As this study explicates, there is reason to believe the shape of the circle itself might be understood as an Aryan identifier from a covetous Jewish perspective.

As it concerns symbols like the Swastika and Sonnenrad, the meaning of these symbols, if not vague, is imprecise. Indeed, while we might accept them both as solar symbols in their origin or even assign to them this meaning, the question remains: to which solar god or to which Aryan civilization are they in homage? Not all, as we’ve discussed, are equal.

Nevertheless, that any man could render a rune or the swastika, for example, doubtlessly added to its appeal in a National Socialist Germany. Thus perhaps with a noon sun symbol, for example, we can achieve a similar accessibility. With the Swastika in particular though, primitivism is conjoined with even orientalism.

To be clear, I am not arguing the Swastika is particular to the east, of course, but rather that its most cultivated use has developed there. This by itself should tell us something. There the swastika becomes a Hindu and even Buddhist. Elsewhere in this broader study I articulate the problems of Hinduism and Buddhism. Neither association holds advantages for us.

The Swastika, along with the Sonnenrad, also suggests the revolving seasonal sense of civilization found in Hinduism. This, as this study discusses, is something we wish to move away from. Again, I recommend a fixed, noontime, unchanging, immortal sun where abstraction is used. Likewise with the Swastika we find something suggestive of the cross. This study discusses the difficulties with that symbol.

I admit that some of the aspects of these symbols, criticized here, actually assisted their appeal. However we must do better. The task is not merely to hastily mobilize degenerate elements against adversaries, as they have mobilized these elements against us. The task is to improve and reawaken good instincts and mobilize the highest elements. Indeed, there are both short term and long term goals here that can be met simultaneously.

As stated elsewhere in this study, the Nationalist Socialists, facing many ultimately insurmountable challenges, lost because they failed to win the culture. In that moment, it was likely an impossible task. Nevertheless, this “culture war” as we have come to call it, was even then international, indeed, has always been international. Only by winning the culture is anything won, particularly in the long term.

The symbol of the Sonnenrad is perhaps based on Merovingian designs.  In general we should work to avoid medieval symbolism, which is often developed ignorantly or as JEM.  The term “Black Sun,” often now used to describe the Sonnenrad, is, of course, absurd.  To be clear I am delineating between the term “Black Sun” and the symbol of the Sonnenrad which I have already assessed.

The term  has alchemic and theosophical associations and even can be connected to the planet and deity of Saturn. The paradoxical term is, in fact, obviously, anti-solar.  We shouldn’t be surprised, for instance, that Satanists also have adopted the symbol and term. Assuming the best, we guess both this term and symbol were adopted clumsily by the right and not malevolently inserted. Readers should know, we are not starting a Goth band. The day too can be feared. This is in fact what nocturnal creatures fear most. Rather it is the day we need to make fearsome.

We need to make Apollo, the very face of the beautiful European, a “hate symbol” again. Let the ugly deal with attacking that, attacking, explicitly, the very center and basis of everything on this planet that is desired. Let brothers unite, under one standard and emerge from the darkness, under one true Sun.

  1. The original ‘black sun’ commissioned by Himmler was actually a golden circle surrounded by teal lightning spokes. ‘Sonnenrad’ just means ‘sun wheel’ so I don’t know when or how it became ‘black’. I think it is literally only a ‘black’ sun because it was reproduced in ink.

Can’t wait to read the book(s).
